Fun Things for Couples to do on a budget

When I first got married, I remember we didn’t have big paychecks to use on fun activities. but that didn’t stop us from having lots of amazing adventures. Our first apartment was filled with hand me down furniture from friends and family. There was no dining table so we used a coffee table as our place to eat our meals while we sat on the floor. we enjoyed many dinners at that table until we bought our first kitchen table and chairs. Many of our outings included going to new places and exploring. We used the entertainment book to get discounts on a variety of different restaurants and attractions. As I celebrate my 30th wedding anniversary I wanted to share a few ideas on fun things to do on a budget as a couple 1) Check out the free museums at Balboa Park. Every tuesday 3 museums on a rotating basis are free. it can be a great way to see some amazing things in a beautiful environment. 2) Attend free spreckels organ pavilion concerts. 3) Go to a matinee or tuesday discount at Regal theatre where most of the movies on that day are discounted. 4) Go for a walk on the beach and bring a blanket to sit and watch the sunset. it is beautiful and it is free. 5) Check out some of the local happy hours. there are lots of deals at local restaurants at the fraction of the cost of a full dinner. 6) If you have kids at home and can’t swing a sitter either do a swap with a trusted friend, you watch their kids and then they will watch yours while you trade off going on a date. 7) Another option with kids, after you put the kids to bed have a special dessert together. add some candles and music to make it special. 8) Go for a hike. There are some beautiful places to walk and get exercise and many options are free. i love Torrey Pines and Annie’s Canyon. 9) Have a game night, take a game to a local park or beach or have a home game night. 10) Make a list of fun things to do with your spouse put them in a jar and take turns picking one weekly to try. Let me know how it goes.
